Regulatory content architecture

Sources & Methodology

TradeApps is designed to make regulatory research more usable without blurring the line between binding law, agency guidance, and application-generated organization.

Core principle: TradeApps is a reference and productivity platform. It does not issue definitive legal conclusions about classification, licensing requirements, exemptions, exceptions, sanctions clearance, admissibility, or whether a transaction is compliant.

Source hierarchy

Where regulatory information is presented, TradeApps prioritizes primary U.S. Government material. Regulations, agency guidance, FAQs, notices, orders, and explanatory material are identified according to their source and function.

  1. Statutes, regulations, binding orders, and official Federal Register publications.
  2. Agency-issued guidance, FAQs, policy materials, and official explanatory resources.
  3. TradeApps-generated indexing, navigation, summaries, research aids, and workflow tools.

Update model

Regulatory content is structured so it can be revised independently of the application shell where practical. Source identity, effective or revision information, and verification dates are preserved when applicable. Superseded versions may be retained when useful for historical research.

What TradeApps-generated text means

Labels, summaries, navigation aids, comparison views, workflow prompts, and other application-generated material are organizational tools. They are not U.S. Government guidance and are not represented as such.

Verification date

This methodology page was last reviewed on October 4, 2026. Individual source cards and products retain their own verification or revision dates where applicable.
